Ironwood is the perfect place for families and sports fans alike. At roughly 9 square miles Ironwood bost multiple housing developments as well as the home to the Peoria Sports Complex. The perfect place to play ball with friends or enjoy the day with family.
Lifestyle
The city of Peoria is proud to offer a lifestyle that is laid back amongst the hustle and bustle of the business metro area of the Valley. Residential communities are comprised of single family homes, townhouses and active adult subdivisions. Peoria Unified School District is a leader in Arizona’s education with excelling schools, award-winning teachers and championship sports programs.
Tucked away in the beautiful Sonoran desert of Peoria, is one of the top ranked master planned communities in Arizona. Vistancia is comprised of outdoor activities, community facilities, shopping, dining and friendly quaint neighborhoods. The homes in Vistancia cater to a wide variety of lifestyles including luxurious golf course lots, single family homes, townhouse houses and an adult living. There are three different communities within Vistancia, known as Vistancia Village, Trilogy at Vistancia and Blackstone Country Club.

Peoria has something for everyone from science to art to outdoor recreation. Located in north Peoria is the Challenger Space Center, which offers a variety of services like Family Star Night and Corporate Teambuilding. If you prefer the most artist side of things, than you will appreciate the $13 million Center for the Performing Arts. The Peoria Center for the Arts consists of a 280 seat main stage auditorium, an 80+ seat black box theater, classrooms, elegant lobby, dressing rooms, backstage support areas and office space for Theater Works.
With the highest concentration of restaurants in the Valley, Peoria has dining covered at “restaurant row” located in Arrowhead Fountain Center. Your taste buds will be thrilled when you can choose from all your favorites like Mexican, Italian, Japanese, American, Chinese, BBQ or fresh steaks. Arrowhead Fountain Center offers dancing, live music, movies and other family fun.
Despite the warm climate, residents of Peoria can still enjoy a little bit of the icy temps at Polar Ice. They offer kids and adult hockey leagues, tournaments, ice skating, camps and clinics. The general public can also visit AZ Ice: Peoria for free style skating or plan a special birthday party.
Parks, Recreation
There are literally dozens of lovely parks in Peoria. Scattered throughout residential areas the parks in Peoria offer outdoor BBQ’s, children’s play areas and biking/walking trails. Rio Vista Recreation Center is located off the 101 Loop and Thunderbird in Peoria. Complete with a public gymnasium, indoor racquetball courts, wall climbing, fitness classes, Water Park, BBQ ramadas, fishing and biking trails, this state-of-the-art recreation center definitely has something for every member of your family!
Less than an hour away from downtown Peoria is the 2nd largest lake in Arizona known as Lake Pleasant. Managed by Maricopa County Parks & recreational Department, Lake Pleasant covers 10,000 acres. Outdoor activities include boating, fishing, sailing, skiing, hiking and camping. Or if you prefer an elegant sunset dinner, you can board the Desert Princess II Cruise boat.
If you are a baseball fan then Arizona is the place to be! Peoria is the home to the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners for their spring training season. Peoria Sports Complex was built in 1994 and hosts a variety of events throughout the year such as car shows, 4th of July celebration, carnivals and other family friendly events.
Hiking at Lake Pleasant is a great way to see the desert in Arizona. Peoria is also proud to have Sonoran Mountain Ranch Park and hiking at West Wing. Of course, fitting for Arizona the lifestyle, Quintero Golf & Country Club, Blackstone Country Club and Trilogy at Vistancia Golf & Country Club are located in Peoria.
